Put an "X" in the "W" column, people!!!!

Roy's girls played in the Saratoga Tournament tonight. They played Bradley's girls. I was a little nervous about the game because Ashdown has had....um, how shall we put this.......a run of bad luck? Bless their hearts - they play sooooo hard and have ended up losing all of their conference games by 4 or 5 points. The Backus household needed a "W" tonight!
BUT - with every good comes the bad......because they won tonight, they will play Nashville in the Saratoga tournament on Thursday night and then turn right around and play them in a conference game in Ashdown on Friday night. UGH! Roy hates hates hates losing to Nashville.......watch for updates on the games on Thursday or Friday.......or Saturday if it's really bad! LOL

Woo Hoo to my Brandy!!!!

I have been meaning to post a comment about my sister-friend Brandy graduating from TAMU-Texarkana. I had good intentions, but just never typed it up! She has been going to school days, nights, summers, etc. while raising two precious boys and tending to her husband. I know this must have been quite a task because when I was going to school and thinking my life was in h**l, I didn't have a child to raise, much less two, and I didn't have a husband to tend to. In December, she received her bachelor's degree and is certified to teach elementary school. She received good news yesterday that she was chosen to take on a long-term maternity leave at the New Boston school district. I believe she'll start in February....hopefully......and will probably go thru the end of the semester. Even though she did her practice teaching, there is nothing like being in there by yourself and being responsible for 15-20 little ladybugs. It will be good experience for her and a positive for her resume'. I'm so proud of her and so excited for her.
For those of you who don't know, I used to babysit Brandy. When she told me she was pregnant with Logan , I though t- oh Lord - Brandy?....a mother? But - I can not tell you how many times I have called on Brandy during my own pregnancy and in the year since Rylee Grace was born to ask her for "momma advice". She is the best little momma to her two precious boys. Now she has accomplished the awesome task of graduating from college. I'm so proud of her. I love her like my sister and wish her the very best in her new journey as a teacher! (Trust me - she'll need it LOL!!!) I have no doubt she will be the best teacher and will touch so many lives in such a postive way. Cheerios to you, Bran, I love you dearly!

Another day at Pop's Farm
Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it.....WHAT?
Coach Backus hosts the Team......with one day notice!
Roy greets me yesterday with a message - oh yeah - I forgot to tell you that the basketball girls are coming over tomorrow to eat hamburgers and hot dogs. Of course - I'm like - excuse me? Tomorrow? My house is a wreck and I really planned to spend my Saturday getting ready to go back to school on Monday. BUT - I've learned that it's easier to just go with the flow and enjoy whatever life brings......We really enjoyed having them. Here are some pictures from today.......
Roy with some of the girls and Coach Welchell, his assistant coach.
Happy New Year!
We took a few minutes out of our fireworks display, thanks to Zach, and took a picture. It was WAY before midnight and poor Rylee Grace was already in bed. I nearly hated to post the picture without her, but maybe we'll get her in it next New Year's!
