I have SOOOO neglected my blog! It's just so easy to upload my pictures to Facebook, but I know I will regret not have my thoughts down, especially when Rylee gets older! She is growing up way too fast and is such a little hoot! She says stuff all the time that cracks us up and I think - gosh, I need to write that down. So.....I'm gonna try to be better about blogging, just so I can have the documentation in the future!
Our summer has been busy and I can't believe we are almost ready to go back to school! I've had a little change in jobs, so it's been a busy summer trying to move my stuff into my new classroom, going to workshops, giving swimming lessons, vacationing and hanging out with family!
I accepted a job teaching 1st Grade at Nashville Primary School at the end of last school year. It was such a bittersweet move for me, but I know it's one that I will be happy about! I'm already excited about my new teacher buddies - they have all been so nice and welcoming. I will definitely miss my CD Franks family, though. I know God puts people in your lives for a reason and they were such a special part of my life! I will always remember them and love them like family!!!
Roy, Rylee and I went to Dallas last week before Roy started back to work. He had some girls playing AAU basketball in Frisco, Texas and I had to buy some new clothes for starting the school year. Rylee has been asking to go stay in a motel and since we don't take her often enough, we decided it was time to take her places. So.....we loaded up and made our treck to Dallas.
Miss Rylee is all wrapped up and ready for the road trip!
Our navigator.....don't ya love that face?!
She gave up her blanket and replaced it with her Bible......not sure if that was a sign of the Navigator, or if it was just a good read!
Our first trip was to the RainForest Cafe in the Grapevine Mills Mall in Grapevine, Texas. Needless to say, it was not a hit! It was dark. It was loud. It was INTENSE! Rylee cried and covered her ears the entire time! I ended up asking for a box and our ticket and we left! She says she never wants to go back there again. I believe her!
The next morning, we headed up to Frisco, Texas to watch some of his basketball girls playing AAU ball. It was a really nice facility! They had about 11 games going on at one time. Roy elbowed me during the game and point to the court next to us. There she sat....Pat Summit. I LOVE me some Pat Summit! She is so no-nonsense and I would love to shake her hand and get a picture and an autograph. This is about the 3rd time we have been at the same event as her and all three times I have left without a picture or an autograph. Roy actually said - now, don't bother her - she's working. Really? I do have a LITTLE sense about me! My momma would have bugged her, though. Maybe I'll get to that stage one day!
After the game, our next mission was to get Miss Rylee a feather in her hair. She has been asking for one and I have been putting it off thinking she would forget about it. Well, she kept asking so we told her we would get one in Dallas. I found a hair salon across from the Basketball arena. I walked in and asked if they could put a feather in her hair and how much it would cost. The nice lady said, the only color I have is pink and it will be five dollars. I said - FIVE dollars? She looked at me crazy and said, yes ma'am. I said, SOLD. I finally explained to her that we were on vacation and our small town charged quite a bit more to have them put in and it all made sense to her! Rylee was so excited!
Next, we headed to Fort Worth to the Stockyards. It was HOT! but I'm glad we went. Here is a picture of Rylee and I waiting for Roy to park the car.....
......and here is Roy with us.....forcing a smile because he just paid $6.00 to park in the parking lot! HA!!!!
We watched the cows come thru town.......
......and tried on cowboy hats!
Then headed out to the Dallas World Aquarium......
Rylee is a little nervous about entering into the place......she is picking her fingernails.....I think she was having flashbacks of the Rainforest Cafe! However, she quickly became accustomed to the atmosphere and was sad when we had to leave!
She even tried to hand-feed a bird! But it wouldn't ever come get her blueberry! Bummer!
That night, we ate at Joe's Crab Shack. Rylee really enjoyed watching the employees dance to the loud songs! Her daddy and I enjoyed the good food!!!!
As we were leaving, Roy spit in the water and the fish all came to the top. Rylee thought that was so neat, so what-do-ya-know......Miss Priss had to try it out! Yep, she's spitting! Her daddy loved it!
We also spent quite a bit of time in my favorite shopping place - Sam Moon! I bought some cute accessories to go with my cute outfits I bought at the Grapevine Mills Mall!
We headed out the next morning for Arkansas! We had a really good time!
Almost home......she was such a good little travel buddy! I can't wait for our next trip!
Rylee could not WAIT to get home to see Bec-Bec and of course, Colin, who was at BecBec's for a little vacation time!
